Vanilla Buttermilk Pound Cake

Need a quick pound cake recipe? Look no further. This one is super easy and comes out perfect every time. Just make sure all your ingredients are room temperature and you’re ready to go!

1 block of cream cheese

2 sticks of butter

3 cups of sugar

5 eggs

1 1/2 tablespoons of vanilla extract

1 teaspoon of baking powder

1/2 teaspoon of salt

3 cups of flour

1 cup of buttermilk

Start by preheating your oven to 325 degrees. Using a mixer, cream the butter and sugar together for 3 to 4 minutes or until light, pale, and fluffy. Then, add in the vanilla extract and mix. Next, add in one egg at a time, mixing between each addition. Lastly, while the mixer is on a low speed, add in the flour, baking powder, and salt. The batter will be thick. Finally, add in the buttermilk and mix well.

Pour the batter into a prepared cake pan and bake at 325 for 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean. Let the cake cool and then glaze it.

For the glaze, I used 3 cups of powdered sugar and 1/4 to 1/3 cup of milk or cream. Add a bit of liquid to the powdered sugar at a time. This way, you get the desired consistency. If it’s too loose, add in more powdered sugar. If it’s too thick, add in a bit more liquid.
