I’m all about blessing your weeknights with hearty meals that are fast and flavor packed. This dish was so much fun to make, and of course I had the most fun eating it. Happy cooking!
About ¾ pound of chuck steak, cut into strips
2 tablespoons of cornstarch
2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
½ red onion, sliced
½ red bell pepper, sliced
1 fresno chile, sliced
For the sauce (1 tablespoon of lemongrass paste, 1 teaspoon of ginger paste, 1 tablespoon of fish sauce, 1 tablespoon of light soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of dark soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce, ¾ cup of brown sugar)
1 cup of chopped basil
Cooked white rice, for serving
Start by mixing the beef with cornstarch until well combined. Then, in a skillet, heat the vegetable oil. Fry the beef until it’s golden brown and then remove. In the same skillet, add in the vegetables and cook until soft. Then, combine all the sauce ingredients in a bowl and pour over the cooked vegetables. Add the beef back and heat through. Then, add in the basil and serve with rice.
