‘Tis the season for your favorite seasonal candies to be re-released and for me nothing sparks excitement like the peanut butter chocolate goodness that Reese’s cups provide. Don’t act like you don’t anxiously wait for the Easter Egg Peanut Butter Cups to drop just in time for the holiday.
Well this year, hopes and dreams were crushed when Reese’s released a Christmas Tree Peanut Butter Cup that quite frankly looked like a turd, and that my friends is putting it nicely. Folks aren’t at all thrilled that their 79¢ investment that should have at least had the form of a Christmas Tree.
Who and What’s to Blame?
Hershey Company spokeswoman Anna Lingeris responded saying: “The seasonal shapes have a higher ratio of peanut butter to chocolate…these products are not solid chocolate made in moulds, which would have a more distinct shape. They are soft peanut butter centers that are enrobed in chocolate, a process which by its nature creates a less distinct shape.”
But Reese’s Remains Unbothered
Despite being dragged on Instagram and Twitter (which is always amusing) the brand says that their sales continue to grow in double digits.
