Lately there has been an E. Coli outbreak in the US hitting at least 25 states. The outbreak is said to have been started in Yuma, AZ and is being transmitted through romaine lettuce. Unfortunately now one person has died from this outbreak in California.
Right now it seems that 121 people have been affected so far, and 52 of those people are now hospitalized. Thank goodness it’s not all bad news though. According to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration, the strain of E.Coli has not been found anywhere else, and Yuma has stopped production of their romaine lettuce.
Even though it’s a lot less likely to get contaminated lettuce now, it’s probably best to still be careful.
