It’s Friday. Well, it is when I typed this – lol. We used to have fish on Fridays allllll the time growing up. Why not take it back old school with this amazing recipe?! Make extra because it’s that good!

4 catfish fillets, cut into 3 pieces

Cornmeal Crusted Catfish

1 1/2 cups of buttermilk

Oil, for frying

1 teaspoon of Kosher salt

1/2 teaspoon of black pepper

1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon of onion powder

1/2 teaspoon of ground fennel

1 tablespoon of Cajun seasoning

3 cups of cornmeal

1/2 cup of cornstarch

Start by preheating the oil.

Then, in a large bowl, add the catfish along with the buttermilk. Season the mixture with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, ground fennel, and Cajun seasoning. Mix well to combine and let sit in the marinade until you’re ready to fry.

To fry, in a large bowl, combine the cornstarch and cornmeal. Then, dredge each pice of fish in the cornmeal mixture. Be sure to shake off the excess. Fry in the oil on both sides until golden brown.

Serve with hot sauce or coleslaw.
