If you don’t follow Chrissy Teigen on Twitter then you are missing out for sure. She’s always dropping gems and some humor but the other day I saw her let us in on a little secret of hers. Each night she eats eggs. Yes, eggs. I thought it was hilarious that someone could find eggs so satisfying at 3 am and it got me thinking, what is the best late-night snack?
Grabbing that bag of tortilla chips and some salsa sounds like a great snack but is it the one you need in the wee hours of the morning? Those leftover fries that probably won’t taste the same unless you take the time to put them in the oven may not be the best option either.
I’m not saying there aren’t a plethora of other salty snacks that can do the trick, but those might be so great either and not because of taste. Eating something salty that late is going to lead to needing some type of refreshment. Refreshments usually lead to more trips to the bathroom which no one really wants to do when they’re trying to go back to sleep. I don’t know about you, but I do NOT like to be disturbed once I found that sweet spot in the bed.
Satisfying a sweet tooth can be one of the best feelings but I’m not sure if that’s something you should be doing at 2 am. Sweets, although extremely delicious, may cause you to be way too active and that’s the last thing you want to be once you’re done with your late-night snack.
Then again, everyone is different and something sweet might be the perfect thing you need before heading back to bed. I’ve definitely indulged in a cookie or two. Maybe a bowl of ice cream here and there in the middle of the night. I’m not ashamed.
