You know, I remember my grandmother having some extra biscuits one day. I was probably about 8 or 9 years old. We absolutely loved refrigerator biscuits in our household. They were a perfect way to have the traditional treat without all the fuss. One day, she fried up a few of those leftover biscuits so they wouldn’t go bad and paired them with honey. Well, I’m using a really simple caramel sauce! This recipe is simple and at the first bite, I’m reminded why it was such a classic staple in my Granny’s repertoire.

Biscuit Donuts with Caramel Sauce

-1 can of flaky refrigerator biscuits

-4 cups of vegetable or canola oil

For the caramel sauce

-1 stick of butter

-1 cup of dark brown sugar

-1/4 cup of heavy cream

-1 pinch of salt

-1 teaspoon of vanilla


1. Preheat the vegetable oil to about 340-350 degrees.

2. Cut the biscuits into bite sized pieces and fry until golden brown. Drain on paper towels to remove any excess oil

3. For the caramel sauce, melt the butter and brown sugar together. Cook for 2-3 minutes over medium heat while constantly stirring.

4. Then, remove from the heat and add the salt, cream, and vanilla and stir until smooth.

  2. I don’t even know if you have a fan base here in Oklahoma, what I do know is, I’m just now seeing and hearing of your talents in cooking, which got me a little excited.
    I’m going to have to ask you to tap into your potential Oklahoma Fan base to see if it is large enough to pay us a visit. Maybe even Google it to see if there is something of interest going on that might bring you here to display that talent.

  3. I ran across your recipe on Facebook about 2 weeks ago and I’ve made it a total of eight times. Family, friends and co workers love them as well. I added a sprinkle of powder sugar and cinnamon before pouring over the caramel. Absolutely delicious!!
